Committees

Volunteers are vital to the success of FSNA. The association better serves all members because of those that contribute their time and skills to lead our Committees.

Bylaws and Resolutions Committee reviews the Bylaws annually, reviews all proposed resolutions and/or Bylaws amendments to ensure they are consistent with current philosophy and advises the House of Delegates of its recommendations.

Membership & Marketing Committee promotes membership in the FSNA at all levels, analyzes membership trends, develops on-going recruitment and retention initiatives, assists with marketing for association events, establishes priorities for types of information to be disseminated and identifies channels through which messages are communicated, and promotes a positive image for the FSNA and school nutrition programs.

Nominating Committee identifies and reaches out to members for leadership positions, verifying the eligibility of the candidates, and develops slate to be approved by the board of directors.

Professional Development & Nutrition Committee promotes and assists with programs to improve school nutrition personnel standards, develops ideas for professional development for the membership, evaluates and interprets nutrition trends, promotes nutrition education, advises membership of developments relating to school nutrition certification efforts and relating to nutritional aspects of school nutrition programs.

Public Policy & Legislative (PP&L) Committee identifies the legislative and regulatory issues that affect the school food service profession and informs the membership of current legislation, develops legislative policy and acts on behalf of the Association on legislative matters.

PP & L Committee Chair: chairs committee meetings, takes part in planning FSNA Legislative Action Caucus & Breakfast at the Capitol, coordinates committee meetings for state and federal member meetings with policy makers, travels to FSNA and Washington DC to advocate for school nutrition.

Scholarships and Awards Committee reviews and selects recipients of awards, reviews and makes recommendations as to the number of scholarships to be distributed, makes recommendations to the Board as to changes in the specific requirements of particular awards and/or proposes the creation of new awards.

Past President and Silver Circle Advisory Board serve as advisors to the President, Executive Board, Committees and other Advisory Boards; as well as liaison between retirees and the Association and works to achieve common goals.
